Fiancee/Proposed Civil Partner
Quick Guide
This category allows you to join your fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner, who is present and settled in the UK. You are normally given a 6 months visa without the permission to work.
The main requirements for this category are:
- You plan to marry or register a civil partnership within a reasonable time
- You plan to live permanently together
- You have met each other
- both you and your partner need to be at least 21
- You must be able to support yourselves and any dependants entirely without working or recourse to public funds
- You must have suitable accommodation
Settlement
After you have married or registered a civil partnership you can apply for a Spouse Visa. The UKBA will then issue you with a 2 year visa. If you are still married or civil partner and intend to live together after the two years, you can apply to remain in the UK indefinitely.
