Tier 4 General Student
This category is part of the Points-Based System (PBS) and is for students over 18 that want to study for more than 6 months.
Student Visitor
This category is suitable if you are coming to study for less than 6 months on a short-term course. Since January 2011 students are allowed to study up to 11 months in this category, if they are on an English Language Course.
Prospective Student
This category is for students who haven’t yet finalised their study plans and need more time to find the right course or college. You can stay in the UK for up to 6 months in this category.
